Police in the Australian Capital Territory have arrested and charged a 21 year old man after eluding them for the past month. The unnamed rider had allegedly removed his number plate and was caught speeding by fixed speed cameras throughout Canberra on 53 occasions in between the 10th of December and 10th of November.
The rider of the Yamaha R1 was eventually caught when he posted the motorcycle for sale on Gumtree, and Australian classifieds website similar to Craigslist. ACT Federal Police identified the bike on the trading website and arrested the owner on 24 November. In addition to the bike, police also seized clothing that matched speed camera photographs and a Go Pro that was attached to his helmet which will probably assist in incriminating him.
The man is due to appear in court at an a later date and will no doubt be scolded by his mother for being a naughty boy. Note the picture below is of another motorcyclist also from Australia covering their plate while passing a speed camera.
