UK | Yamaha R3 and MT-09 Tracker Pricing Confirmed

Yamaha today has announced pricing for two brand new models, the MT-09 Tracer and the learner friendly R3. The MT-09 Tracer which is derived from the hugely successful MT-09 naked will cost £8,149.00 and comes standard with ABS. The Tracer has been tuned with specific riding modes, a switchable traction control system, 18 litre fuel tank and a 3-position height adjustable windscreen.

It also gets a centre-stand (yay!) and a 12 volt socket for charging on the go. Weight is bumped up to 210 kg wet (the standard MT-09 weighs 191 kg wet).

The entry level YZF-R3 will come in at £4,799.00. That will really throw the cat in among the pigeons. It’s a significant £400 cheaper than Kawasaki’s Ninja 300 ABS, despite the R3 having both more power (31kw v 29kw) and weighing less (169 kg v 174 kg). Expect Kawasaki to respond in due course with sharper pricing. The Yamaha R3 will also be £200 cheaper than the new KTM RC390 though the performance metrics are more in favour of the RC390 in this case.

The MT-09 Tracer will hit showrooms in March 2015, while the Yamaha YZF-R3 will be available around April.
